A Fantastic Day at the Beach

My grandparents and I
Every other weekend, my family and I go and visit my grandparents who live by the beach. They are my father's parents.  We do many fun activities such as bike ride, exercise, and have lunch.  First, we go bike riding. We race  on the bike road for three miles until we get to a park.   We ride in a straight line, all 5 of us on bikes except my mom.  My mom roller blades with our dog Romeo pulling her behind us.  At the park, we have a water break and sometimes my dad gets us ice cream.  It is delicious!

Are you ready to ride your bike?

Ha Ha I'm taller than you!
Next, we ride back to were my grandparents are waiting for us and go exercising. At the beach, they have equipment such as bars, monkey bars, ropes, rings and beams.  On the bars my mom helps us all do pull ups and leg lifts.  Then we go on the rings.  My sister Sarah, is an expert on them because she can swing just like a little monkey.  Sarah does gymnastics and also shows us her beam routine. She does an amazing job!

Sarah my sister has an extraordinary handstand!

Finally, we are all very hungry so my grandma gives us food that she made especially for us.  My Grandma Mila and my Grandpa Isay make us food like soup, chicken and mashed potatoes.  We are really hungry after our work out and the food is delicious!  My Grandpa always brings us small treats like chocolate and candies.  They are so scrumptious!

We have a lot of fun and always look forward to coming back to another day at the beach!

What activities do like to do with your family?

You all are very athletic and it's very important that you like nature. When you will grow up you will remember this fun time with your family.

    Dear Miriam,

What a fantastic day at the beach! Can you believe it is winter here in the northern hemisphere?

I love the photos you took on the equipment. How high up in the air do you think Sarah climbed? Do you go up that rope? Do you think I would be able to climb it?

Mr. Yollis and I like to bike down on the Santa Monica beach path too. I used to roller blade, but my skates broke, and I have not replaced them. Maybe I should purchase another pair!

Did anyone go in the water?

P.S. Stop by tomorrow and we'll find and evaluate Clarissa's blog!

    1. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

Thank you for your wonderful comment. It is so hard to believe that it is wintetr bu it still feels like summer.

I think you got confused by the picture but that is me on the rope! Sarah also climbs the rope all the way very well! I think I climbed about 3 stories high. I think if you practice you will also be able to climb the rope because my little brother and sister can climb it too.

I think it would be wonderful if you buy new skates and start skating again! I hope you still remember how to skate. My mom also loves to rollerblade. Good luck!

      Sincerely,
      Miriam

      @ Miriam,

Oops! I just went back and read the caption on the photo, and it is you! Wow! You were so high up! I don't know if I could go all the way up!

Mrs. Chalfin and I use to go roller blading, but my skates broke. I talked with her today, and she'd like to start skating again. I guess it time to replace my skates!

    3. @Mrs, Yollis,

Thank you for commenting back to me. I think it would be a great idea for you to get new skates and go skating.

We also sometimes go skating at Balboa park. They have a long path very good for biking or skating.

  3. Dear Miriam,
You told everybody how wise they can spend their free time. The beach in Santa Monica is the
best place for it. Fresh ocean air , good equipment for exercises alltogether is the best way to improve their health.
I think those who have read your post will
accept it as a recommendation to spend their weekends with benefits for them. Thank you for mentioning grandpa and me in this post. I*m ready to do any dinner you like for you with
    great pleasure.
    Love you, grandpa and grandma

  4. Lovely post Miriam, it's very impressive what young people achieve. The weather looks so lovely where you are. I was mightily impressed with your sisters handstand ... and your mum roller blades! This is how I imagine California to be.

What a brilliant experience you are getting at school and it's a great example to other students that you are setting. When I have to convince people in England that student blogs are the way to go, I'll be using blogs like yours as an example.

    best wishes

    1. @Mr.E,

Thank you for leaving me a wonderful comment. California is very warm and is also warm in the winter sometimes. My sister Sarah does gymnastics and she said that it is very easy to do a handstand. She can also do a back walk over on the beam as well. Next month she will be competing in a very large competition.

  5. Dear Miriam
It's lovely that you get to regularly visit your grandparents, and how lucky that they live by the sea!
Do you take your bikes with you when you visit, or do the bikes stay at your grandparents' house?
Reefton, where I live, is an inland town, and the nearest ocean is an hour away. The beaches have a lot of rips and are not very good swimming beaches because we are on the west coast of New Zealand.
Do you swim in the ocean at your grandparents' place?

    warm regards
    Mrs McKenzie

    1. @Mrs. McKenzie,

Thank you for leaving me a wonderful comment. We don't keep our bikes at our grandparents house because they don't have room to keep 5 bikes. We also don't swim in the ocean because it is cold in the winter. In the summer the water is a couple of degrees warmer and we have wet suits as well.

  6. Dear Miriam,
My name is Mrs. Rosenquist and I am a second grade teacher from New York. Mrs. Yollis tweeted about your blog, so I thought I would check it out. First, I would like to say that it certainly doesn't look like winter where you live! Here in New York it is very cold. Today the temperature is in the 30's and we are suppose to have snow tonight. My second graders are very excited because they love playing in the snow. If it snows a lot we sometimes have to cancel school and we have a Snow Day.

It is wonderful that your family is so close and that you look forward to these special weekends with your grandparents. My children are grown up now, but when they were younger we enjoyed spending time in nature. We went camping a lot, and even camped in Yosemite and Lassen National Parks.

    Happy Blogging,
    Mrs. Rosenquist

    1. @Mrs. Rosenquist,

Thank you for your wonderful comment. It is very warm here and it doesn't feel like winter at all. I also love snow and I think they are very lucky if they have snow day.

My other grandpa promised me and my brother and sisters that he will also take us camping to Yosemite this summer.

  7. Hello Miriam,

Exercise and fun outside is certainly a way to keep fit. I live not too far from beaches and a lake. I can easily walk to them so I know how much fun they can be.

Our beach doesn't have a cycleway like yours but there is a cycle path connecting my small town with the next about 5 miles away. It's very popular with locals and tourists. I've cycled and walked it many times.

Rather than cycling these days, I like to go hiking. It's great to be out in our local nature reserve or one of our national parks. When my brother visits, he often joins me.

    Keep blogging! :)

  8. Hi from New Brunswick, Canada!

I love how you used transition words "first", "then", "next"...it really helps to organize your story!

I love to exercise. I am lucky to have the mountains and beach very close to me, so no matter the weather I have somewhere to go with my family. It can get very cold in Canada in the winter so I have to bundle up. My dog has special boots that he wears to keep his paws safe from all of the salt, ice, and snow!

You are a wonderful writer. Keep blogging!
