Congratulations Mrs. Yollis!

Mrs. Yollis was awarded teacher of the year and today, she was presented with an award at the board meeting. There were many people who attended the ceremony like her family, husband, current and former students, teachers from my school (even my teacher), and all of her friends.  In the beginning, all of the students lead everyone in attendance in saying the Pledge of Allegiance.  Then, Dr. Zimmering gave Mrs. Yollis her award. Mrs Yollis gave a very nice acceptance speech thanking everyone for coming and sharing this moment with her.  She has been teaching for 25 years! We all gave Mrs. Yollis a standing ovation.

If I didn't have Mrs. Yollis as a teacher, I would have never had a blog.  Mrs. Yollis started me off with commenting and introducing me to all of her friends around the world. She taught me about the world that we live in and caring about other people through the Uganda Global Project. Thank you Mrs Yollis.

Here is a short animoto video from today's ceremony.

What an impressive blog. I linked through to it from In the Den with Room 10's Blog Honour Roll. No wonder it is listed there. Well done!!

I am a teacher in Bunbury, Western Australia, but recently came from Leopold Primary School. Two teachers there, Mrs Morris (used to be Miss McGeady) and Miss Jordan inspired me to start classroom blogging. I think they were inspired by Mrs Yollis!! It really is a small world.

    Keep up your excellent blogging.

  4. Dear AA,

Thank you for leaving me a comment. I also think Mrs. Yollis really deserves the award. If I didn't have her as a teacher I would have never learned how to blog. She has also inspired many other teachers to also start their own blogs.

  8. Dear Miriam,

I am glad that you had such a wonderful teacher as Mrs.Yollis. It is important to have a good mentor, such as Mrs. Yollis, who would steer you in the right direction especially during your early years of education. As you go through life you will come across a lot of good teachers who will impart knowledge and life skills to you.

Good luck on the new school year.

  10. Hi Miriam,
I am so excited to hear about Mrs. Yollis' Teacher of the Year award here on your blog. She is a member of my PLN (personal learning network) on Twitter and I have learned so much from her.

I use her blog and the video her 3rd graders created on quality comments to teach my 4th graders. They definitely write better comments thanks to that video. Were you a part of that video? When were you in Mrs. Yollis' class?

The next time you see Mrs. Yollis please give her a big hug for me and tell her it is from her #1 fan in Louisiana.

  12. Dear Mrs. Naugle,

Thank you for leaving me a comment. I was in Mrs. Yollis' class last year and I learned many things in her class. We took turns being in videos and I wasn't in the comment video. Since I am now in fourth grade, the new third graders will probably be making videos too. I hope you visit again.
