Have you read any of these books?
What books are on your reading list?
Dear Miriam,
ReplyDeleteI love this post and I do feel it is a great idea of making a list the way you have of all your favourtie books which you have read.
I have a couple of your favourite books which were on your list that I had read were Black Beauty and Little House on the Prairie. Now out of these two books my favourite would have to be The Little House on the Prairie. I just feel in love with this book because of the story it really did take me back to those times living on the prairie.
On my list of favourite books I have a couple and they are To Kill a Mockingbird and the other book which I just recentily re read was the Secret Garden.
Great post Miriam.
From your pal,
AA.
Dear AA,
ReplyDeleteI also loved Little House on the Prairie. My mom showed me the movie too. Has BB read any of these books?
My mom has read To kill a Mocking bird, and maybe she will get me the book from the library.
From,
♥Miriam♥
@ Miriam,
ReplyDeleteThank you for replying back to me.
Yes I have watched the movie too of the Little House on the Prairie and I love it as well.
As yet BB has not read any of the books which I have mention but you have got me thinking BB and I will be visiting the local library this week and we will try to find the Little House on the Prairie book. I really think she will enjoy reading these books.
The book To Kill a Mocking bird is a very moving book I read this book way back when I was 14.
From your friend,
AA.
Dearest Miriam,
ReplyDeleteI am very proud to see you reading such interesting books. I hope that you will continue to expand your reading list and open your mind to new ideas and adventures.
Love,
Mama
Dear Miriam,
ReplyDeleteI am impressed to see you reading such good books and the fact that you like to read makes me very happy, also I am very proud of you that you can use Excel and know how sort and you was able to create such a good document. Good Job!
Proud to have such a smart granddaughter,
Love you,
Grandma Tanya
Dear Miriam,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea to keep track of your reading like this!
I have read all of the Little House books. Actually I think I have read them more than once. I enjoyed them each time. I suspect you will enjoy reading these books again when you are older too. Sometimes when you reread something it gets better and better.
Thank you for sharing. Reading and blogging are wonderful ways to travel all around the world.
Blessings,

Dear Miriam,
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job putting that chart together! I think it is a great idea to keep a running list of your reading. It will be so interesting to look back over your list as time passes.
I have read the Little House series, too, and I loved them all! I have been interested in the Wayside series for awhile, but had never heard a recommendation until reading your post. Thanks!
I hope you will continue to post about your reading!

Miriam, I have actually read most of these books. I can see that you really like to read stories about animals and nature.
ReplyDeleteI can recommend to you the Jean Craighead George book "My Side of the Mountain". I also love to recommend books by Richard Peck. You should try to find a copy from the "Blossom Culp" series, my favorite of which is "Ghosts I Have Been". He also writes the "Grandma Dowdel series", which include "A Year Down Yonder". Great stuff!
I hope soon you won't be able to keep a spreadsheet because you will have too many books. You might look at using a site like LibraryThing.com to keep track of the books you read instead. :)
Aloha Miriam,
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful list of books. I have read all of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books and also the Sideways School series. If I had to choose between the two I would choose Laura Ingalls Wilder. My reason, because I enjoy reading about family life in a different period of time.
I can see by your list you like stories about horses. I love dogs and one of my favorite books is Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo.
I hope you keep adding to your wonderful list. Enjoy your weekend!
A hui hou,
Mrs. Jacobs
Hello Miriam
ReplyDeleteYou have a great reading list here. I loved the Jack London story as a student because of the point of view, and the Wayside School series is wonderfully crazy.
Good luck with your books and with exploring new novels to read, too. (And maybe write your own one day, too?)
I might recommend you read The Invention of Hugo Cabret -- it's a fantastic story.
Sincerely,
Mr. Hodgson

ReplyDeleteDear Miriam,
What a terrific way to keep track of the books you are reading! I like how you have a little summary on the side to help. Sometimes we forget after a while what a book was about!
Several of your books are favorites of mine! I LOVED all the Laura Ingalls Wilder stories! I read all of them, but as an adult. For some reason, I never got into them as a child. I discovered them when I became a teacher and then...I read every single one! I have a favorite, but first I want to ask...which one did you like the best?
Currently, I am reading Call of the Wild! by Jack London. That was another one that I had not read, but picked it up this summer. I'm halfway through it.
How were you able to embed the excel sheet in the blog? We talked about it, but hadn't solve it.
Your proud former teacher,
Mrs. Y♥llis

Miriam - What a great idea! I am having my 4th graders keep a list of the books they have read this year, but I like your idea of putting it in an Excel file and posting it to your blog! Have you thought about creating a column for a rating scale? How many stars would you give each book?
ReplyDeleteKeep reading - You will really start to see which authors and genres are your favorites. :)
Dear Mrs. Boardman,
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving me a nice comment. Maybe I will read the Little House on the Prairie books to my younger brother and sister. I think they will like it too.
Please visit again.
From,
♥Miriam
Dear Mrs. Yollis,
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving me a comment. My favorite Laura Ingalls Wilder stories are Little house in the Woods and Little House on the Prairie. Which is your favorite?
My mom copied the excel table into word and then copied it into blogger. She couldn't copy directly from Excel into blogger. Dashboard.
Do you like call of the Wild?
From,
Miriam
Dear Mr. Chamberlain
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving me a comment. I just got the book My Side of the Mountain but haven't had a chance to read it.
Thank you for recommending me these books. I am not sure that I would like to read Ghosts I Have Been because it sounds scary. Is it a scary book?
From,
Miriam
Dear Mrs Jacobs,
ReplyDeleteThank you for recommending me Because of Winn-Dixie. I love animal stories, and especially stories about dogs. I am sure this will be a great story.
My mom just got me the movie Because of Winn-Dixie and I didn't know that it is based on a book. Next time I go to the library, I will have to get the book.
From,
Miriam
Dear Mr. Hodgson,
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving me a comment. I will certainly read The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Thank you for the suggestion.
The first time I read Sideways Stories from Wayside School, I kept reading the same book every night. I am still not bored of it.
From,
Miriam
Dear Mrs. Grayson,
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving me a comment. It is a very good idea of giving each book a rating. The problem is that I have liked every book that I have read and would give each book a very high rating of ten stars. What books do your 4th graders like to read? What rating scale do they use?
From,
Miriam
Dear Ms. Tatiana,
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving me a comment. Wayside School Stories are really hilarious. My sister is now reading this series as well and also loves the books. Please let me if you like it too.
From,
Miriam
Hi Miriam! I love Wayside Stories....those were some of my favorite books when I was younger... another of my favorite authors is Roald Dahl, have you ever read any of his books? When you are older, you can get an entire degree in English and read all you want!
ReplyDeleteLove you,
Elana
