  1. Dear Miriam,

WOW I love your new blog!

I loved your Welcome post about your hobbies. I especially like when you were running because whoever took the picture did a good job. I also really like your Voki because you can feed
it. I just gave it a treat. I also really like the daily puppy because it is so cute.

You asked about my hobbies. My hobbies are playing with my sister on the swings, doing cheer, and cooking.

I have some questions for you:
Do you have a baby sister?
    Do you do cheer?
If so do you like to play cheer?

    Warmly,

  3. Dear Miriam,

Congratulations on earning your very own blog! You must feel very proud of yourself.

I enjoyed your opening post, it is nice to learn about student bloggers and what interests students have on the other side of the world.

At the moment we are on school holidays for all of January. That is because I live in Australia, which is in the southern hemisphere.

During the holidays I have spent time with family and friends, read some books, exercised, been shopping, done the gardening and I've also done some cooking.

Keep up the great work Miriam!

    Your friend in Australia,
    Miss Jordan

  4. What a great start to your first blog, Miriam. I love dogs so I was very pleased to see that you'd added, not one, but two dogs to your blog :-)

I love reading and going for walks. I also like listening to music. My husband says I spend too much time on the computer, but it's usually to find great resources for my students, or to read interesting blogs.

Well done, and keep up the good work you've started.

  7. Hi Miriam
It is so great to see that you have your own blog.

I can see from your photos that you have a wide range of interests.
Some of my interests are reading, walking and of course, blogging!

I have an cat who is 12 years old. His name is Seamus. Each time we get off the soft chairs he jumps up to sleep in the warm spot. He also likes to sit on any paper that is on the floor.

What are the 3 piano songs called that you are learning to play?

  8. Dear Miriam,

I'm a 6th grade teacher at A.E. Wright. I teach blogging to the 6th graders in my elective class, but you've outshined them all!

You have created such a wonderful blog. I especially like the template you chose. I love books and reading, so you can see why I like the background you used.

I hope you enjoy blogging - you've gotten off to a great start!

  9. Dear Mirian,

Congratulations on earning your own blog! You deserve it. I bet you will ♥ blogging!

I loved reading your introduction post and getting to know a bit more about you.

I remember you playing the piano on your class blog - you are very talented!

We have something in common because I like running too! Sometimes I do fun runs. Maybe you will do some fun runs when you're a bit older. As the name suggests, they are fun! :)

Some of my other hobbies are finding new things to do with technology, blogging (of course), bushwalking (you call it hiking), cooking and reading.

I am enjoying the school holidays and look forward to introducing you to the new 2KM and 2KJ class when we return to school in February.

    Your blogging buddy,
    Mrs Morris

  10. Dear Miriam,

Congrats! You really deserve the blog, wow I find it so so so amazing!

My hobbies are making dinner, cooking delicious cakes with my grandma, cupcakes, brownies, pies, cookies, and playing with my brother who is such a monkey.

When I sing for my brother he gives a little funny dance and shakes his booty. His favorite song is "Shake Your Groove Thing", which he calls it "Shake Your Booty".

The Voki is so creative. He does look like your dog, Romeo from what I have seen in one of your images with your family.

The daily puppy is so adorable.

    I have two questions:

What is a piano competition? I do piano and in piano we only have piano recitals, not piano competition. Is it a gold medal, silver medal, bronze medal thing?

Good luck for your upcoming event, the piano competition, I just know that you are going to do amazing.

I hope that you have an amazing evening!

    Warmly,
    your friend Adia

  11. Dear Miriam,

I am very proud of you! The template you chose is a perfect one for you! You are an excellent writer, and I also must say that the photos you chose for your post are excellent. The one of your siblings and dog is cute, but the action shot of you running really tells the story! Great work!

You asked about my hobbies. Of course, I love to blog and learn about new technologies. (Learning really grows the ol' dendrites!) In addition, I enjoy gardening. Last year, I planted a vegetable garden, but sadly very little was produced. Even though it wasn't a big success, it was fun to try. This year I won't attempt to grow corn! I have been very successful growing basil!

    Terrific work, Miriam!

Thank you for allowing me to have a blog. You are an excellent teacher and I have learned so much in your class. You have a lot of blogs and you make it look really easy but it is a big responsibility. It takes a long time to respond to everyone's comment.

Last year, we planted tomatoes but nothing grew. My mom and I also planted flowers in my front yard. It was hard work, but a lot of fun. I put on big work gloves so I didn't have to get my hands dirty.

  18. Dear Miriam,

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

I'm very very impressed with you and your MAMA. All I have to say is, EXCELLENT job. Your blog looks terrific, sounds terrific, it is terrific. I will be sure to visit your blog very often.

The pictures are super cute. I have to get a crash course from your mom in incorporating pictures, etc. I can tell that you both spend a lot of time and sweat into making it to what it is today. Very nice job.

I love the fact that your voki is a replica of your dog Romeo.

You asked about my hobbies. I love to read books and interesting articles that make me think and challenge me.

I also love to do karate and kickboxing. Daily physical activity is crucial in our lives, no matter how young or old. I can see that you are a very active young lady. Knowing your mom, it doesn't really surprise me.

I had never heard about a piano competition before you mentioned it.

You are an amazing pianist and you'll do great at the competition. Just remember to have a good time during your daily practice and during the competition. The experience you will gain is going to be life enhancing. So, no matter where you rank, you are a winner in our eyes.

Ever since Adia watched your piano post, she's been inspired to practice playing her piano every day. So, thank you for your inspiration.

    Lots of hugs and blessings,

  20. Miriam.
I am a classroom teacher in New Zealand, its Summer here at the moment and all our students are on holidays but later in the year, at the end of February when they come back we are going to be setting up blogs for the students, and I have to say I think I will use yours as an example. Our students are a bit older, they are Year 8 (12-13 years old) which I think makes them Grade Seven in America. Its the middle of Summer here and the school holidays so working in the garden is nice as well as getting ready for the end of the holidays and the start of new school year. We're in New Zealand which is nearly the bottom country in the world, but were not part of Australia as some people think! keep up the good work,

  29. @Adia and Ava,

Thank you for leaving me comment. I love getting comments. Congrats Adia for earning your own blog! I really like your chicks on your blog. They are very cute.

A piano competion is when you compete against other children in your age group. There are usually a couple of judges that listen and take notes on how you play. The competitions that I attended had a 3 judge panel. Then they take some time to deliberate and announce who gets 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. If you get a place, then you get a trophy or an award. The piano competitions usually require you to play a certain type of song, like a sonata or play music by a certain composer. I always get very nervous before a competition. Adia, we should play together. Maybe we can learn a song made for 4 hands that we can play together.

I also like to read. Ava, I don't know how to box or do karate. It is nice that both you and Adia like to do similiar things.

My Mom makes me play everyday. Do you make Adia play as well?

    From,
    ♥Miriam♥

  30. Dear Miriam,

You asked me if I make Adia practice every day. There was a time when I had to stand right behind her when she practiced to make sure she did as she was instructed by her piano teacher. This was towards the beginning of her piano days.

Then there came a time when she would just go to the piano and play without any of my involvement.

A year or so thereafter, the songs got tougher and more challenging and she had to be reminded again and again. It was very tiring for me, I must admit. I felt that she was only practicing because she had to.

I have to proudly say that she now, without any involvement on my part, has yet again become very disciplined and focused, and she practices every day for at least a half hour to an hour on her piano and another half hour or so, her voice. She now revisits her older piano pieces, which she never did before.

To see you girls so focused and disciplined makes us moms very very happy. We know that one day in your lives you will be grateful for these days. You will go through life not easily giving up, being focused and disciplined with everything you do. You are no quitters and that will take you both very far in life.

Enjoy your piano practice. Both of you are very lucky and fortunate girls to own your pianos. There are kids who have great talent but don't have the opportunity to actually own an instrument. Cherish this beautiful instrument.

    Be blessed,
    Ava (Adia's MAMA)

  35. Dear Miriam,

We are very impressed by your blog and want to keep in touch with you.

First, we will tell you a little bit about ourselves. Yuliya was recently accepted into USC School of Pharmacy and hopes to become a great pharmacist like your mom. My husband (Yuliya's dad), Sasha, is a computer programmer. I am a scientist; I perform experiments on organisms so small that you cannot see them without a microscope.
Yuliya's hobbies include playing Sudoku and dancing salsa. Sasha's hobby is to play badminton. I love to read and recently received a Kindle (electronic reading device), which makes reading even more fun.

Now, some questions for you. Have you ever played badminton? What is your favorite song to play on the piano? What are your plans for the summer? Do you know that Yuliya is going to have a wedding this summer? Would you like to participate in the ceremony along with your brother and sisters?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

  38. Hi Miriam,

I just finished watching your piano
piece. What a good job! I know you are very talented in so many areas. You are very lucky to be able to take so many different kinds of lessons. My parents couldn't afford to give me lessons when I was little but I did take ballet lessons for a short time right after Jennifer was born.

What pieces are you preparing for your piano competition? I always was nervous and excited when Jennifer had violin performances. I was also very proud of her as , I know, your parents are of you.
