A Trip to Will Rogers State Park

A few weeks ago, my grandparents took my siblings and I to Will Rogers State Park.  Will Rogers was born in 1879 in the Cherokee Nation family in Indian Territory.  Rogers was American and was famous for being a cowboy, performer, writer, and most of all actor. He was one of the world's best-known celebrities in the 1920s and 1930s.  Rogers traveled the world 3 times, and during that time he made 71 movies.  Will Roger died in 1935 in an airplane crash.

Roger built a ranch with a 31-room ranch house, 11 baths, and seven fireplaces,  This house is surrounded by a stable, corrals, riding ring, roping arena, golf course, polo field and riding and hiking trails.  Roger's house and all of the other spectacle things he had are still open to the public.  

We did many different activities and saw many sights on our visit to Will Rogers State Park.  Some of the things we did are,  look at horses and give them water,  see Roger's house, and hike on the trail. First, we went to see Roger's house.  Will Roger's house is a light yellow color and next to it is a well where he pumped water from.

Next, we went to visit the horses.  They were so cute and adorable!  Some horses were white, yellow, brown, black, and spotted. The photos are of my favorite ones.  Since the horses were out of water and there were no rangers around, my grandpa took the hose and poured them some water into their gigantic buckets.  I wish I had a horse that I could ride.

We then had lunch and went on the trail to hike.  It was a very rocky, steep, and exhausting hike.  We went up many hills and then I asked my grandpa for some water, and he forgot it in the car.  Silly Grandpa!  The best part about the hike in Will Rogers State Park is the view of the whole city that you see at a certain point.  The view is breathtaking! We hiked up to a wooden and steel bridge connecting two cliffs. Below is a picture of my  mom on that same bridge when she was little. We had a fabulous day and we couldn't wait to tell our parents about the day.

When my mom was little, she went to Will Rogers State with my grandma, grandpa, and aunt.  They went to this park many times and did the same things that we did like hike and spend time with the horses.  These photos were taken in 1989 when my mom was 12 and my aunt Elana was 3.

Locks of Love

A few days ago, my mom took me to the hairdresser to get my hair cut.  Last summer, Sarah and I convinced my youngest sister Hannah to cut her hair and donated it to an organization called  Locks of Love.  Hannah was the first in our family to get her hair cut because my hair was not long enough. Before I cut it, my hair was twelve inches long. To donate you need your hair to be at least 10 inches or longer.  Locks of Love makes wigs and hair pieces for children that have lost their hair.  I had wanted to have a short hair cut and was glad that it also could help a child who doesn't have hair receive a wig. I now have very short hair and I think I like it even better.

When my mom was in 2nd grade, she also cut her hair. Here are some photos of  hair when it was long and short. Which hair cut do you like better? She has never had short hair after that.

Poetry

This year, my 4th grade teacher Mrs. Krauss, recommended some poem books to me.  I have read poetry as part of school last year  in Mrs. Yollis' class, but not on my own for fun.  Mrs. Krauss gave me a couple of books to take home to read from her class library and now I read poems all the time. There is one poem called Smart by Shel Silverstein which is so funny that no matter how many times I read it I still find it hilarious.   There is another author Jack Prelutsky that writes really funny poems.  One poem that I really enjoyed is called My Sister is a Sissy by Jack Prelutsky.  I love this poem because I have two younger sisters who do many funny things and sometimes get into big trouble. Therefore, I dedicated this poem to them. Even though they sometimes do annoying things, I still love them very much.

Ultimate Blogging Challenge Review

I want to thank one of my blogging buddies, AA, and Bianca, for sending me such beautiful gifts! It was so nice of them!  Bianca and I have been blogging buddies for the past year and a half. We both really like each others blogs.

They sent us Australian souvenirs.  I got an Australian animal map, a koala pin, a scrunchie for my hair, and a teddy bear key chain.  The gifts were so cute and I have to admit that koalas are just adorable!  The teddy bear had a T-shirt that said Australia on it.

My mom also appreciated the gifts you sent her. She got a map of popular Australian birds, a koala pin, a key chain, and a phone tag.  She loved the birds and hopes that one day she will get to go to Australia and see those birds.  She also put her key chain on her keys and the phone tag on her phone.  Thank you so much!

A Fantastic Day at the Beach

 

My grandparents and I

Every other weekend, my family and I go and visit my grandparents who live by the beach. They are my father's parents.  We do many fun activities such as bike ride, exercise, and have lunch.  First, we go bike riding. We race  on the bike road for three miles until we get to a park.   We ride in a straight line, all 5 of us on bikes except my mom.  My mom roller blades with our dog Romeo pulling her behind us.  At the park, we have a water break and sometimes my dad gets us ice cream.  It is delicious!

Next, we ride back to were my grandparents are waiting for us and go exercising. At the beach, they have equipment such as bars, monkey bars, ropes, rings and beams.  On the bars my mom helps us all do pull ups and leg lifts.  Then we go on the rings.  My sister Sarah, is an expert on them because she can swing just like a little monkey.  Sarah does gymnastics and also shows us her beam routine. She does an amazing job!

Finally, we are all very hungry so my grandma gives us food that she made especially for us.  My Grandma Mila and my Grandpa Isay make us food like soup, chicken and mashed potatoes.  We are really hungry after our work out and the food is delicious!  My Grandpa always brings us small treats like chocolate and candies.  They are so scrumptious!

We have a lot of fun and always look forward to coming back to another day at the beach!

My Baby Sister Plays Piano!

My little sister Hannah now plays the piano.  We recently noticed that Hannah can play perfectly by ear.  Hannah doesn't know any of the notes but still can figure songs out.  We first realized it when I heard her playing the melody of one of my Sonata's that I am learning. Everybody in our family plays piano except my dad.  The two people who play the worst by ear are my mom and brother.

A few days ago, Hannah and I had a friendly competition.  The point of the competition is to see who can figure out how to play a song that my mom gives us.  By the time I got ready to play, Hannah had already managed to figure out the song. I needed a little bit more time to figure songs out.  Then Hannah and Sarah tried to see who can figure out a completely new set of songs, and my sister Sarah was faster. Sarah is also really good at playing songs by ear.

Here is a piece that my mom taught Hannah to play.  It is Minuet in G major by Bach.
