White Sands Beach |
The climate of Hawaii is very warm all year long because it is near the equator. We are staying in a condo located right across from the beach. Today we woke up at 6:00 in the morning to go to the beach and the water was very warm as well. In Hawaii there is a 3 hour time zone difference, so when it is 6:00 am here, it is 9:00 am in Los Angeles. I am still not used to the time zone difference.
Hawaii has beautiful sunsets. One photo I took of the sunset reminded me of a Magic Tree House Book cover called Dolphins at Day Break. I really liked how the sun reflected on the water.
We stayed at the beach until the sunset. The sky was a pretty orange and yellow color as the sun hid behind the clouds.
Have you ever been to Hawaii?
Where in Hawaii have you been?
Aloha Miriam,
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful you and your family are having an holiday in Hawaii and from looking at the photographs having an awesome time too.
The weather sounds just prefect as right at this very moment in Geelong it is rather cold and too make matters worse I've got a cold.
I have to book a holiday to Hawaii as I am pretty sure it will make me feel soo much better.
I do know a few friends who have been to Hawaii and they loved it. Most of them say that the people of Hawaii are just beautiful.
Aloha and enjoy your holiday with your family.
From your blogging bubby down under,

Aloha!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic post about your journey! (Already you are getting writing credit! Maybe you can do a Step-Up to Writing post about three things you like about Hawaii! Just an idea. :-)
I have been to Hawaii many times. The first time, I went to the bustling island of Oahu. The capital city of Honolulu is located there, and so is the famous Diamond Head volcano cone. While on Oahu, I visited the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. This solemn place is where we honor the men and women lost during the Pearl Harbor Attack on December 7, 1941.
After being on Oahu, I took a short flight east to the island of Molokai. There I stayed at the Molokai Ranch, a beautiful resort. While on the island I participated in a cattle drive! On horseback, I helped move 300 cattle to another part of the island. Yee Haw!
Finally, Mr. Yollis and I honeymooned on Hawaii, which is also called The Big Island. (I think that is where you are now, and not on Oahu.) We really enjoyed driving to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and the two of us hiked up to where we could see the lava oozing from a volcanic vent! In addition, we hiked around the southernmost point in the United States.
All in all, I had a tremendous time visiting a few of the Hawaiian islands. This summer, I will be going back!
Mahalo!

@Mrs. Yollis,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great step up to writing comment. I am definitely going to do one on my snoreling trip. I plan on writing about, fish, turtles, and corals that I saw. Did you go snorkling in Hawaii?
Thank you for correcting me on the name of the island. I changed the post to say that we are on the Island of Hawaii (not Oahu).
We plan on also visiting the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and I may do a post about that trip as well.
Which island will be going back to in the summer?
@ Miriam,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your compliment about my Step-Up to Writing comment! I worked very hard on it, and I'm glad you liked it! I can't wait to read yours! I look forward to reading more about your Hawaiian trip!
This summer I hope to travel to Maui and Kaui! I've been to Maui several times, but have never stepped foot on Kaui.
You are going to love snorkeling! That is one of my favorite activities to do in the tropical waters. I know you will see Hawaii's state fish, the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a! You'll just love that fish!
Aloha!

Aloha, Mirochka!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you and your family! Yulia, Sasha and I have been on Hawaii several times. We visited three islands: Oahu, Maui and Big island. I think Big Island is the best. Have you seen a volvano?
Enjoy your vacation!
